Our resources help people living abroad understand life-insurance concepts and prepare better questions. Cogotec Limited is accountable for the website’s editorial standards. Educational content does not replace advice from an appropriately licensed professional.
Responsibility and authorship
Expat Life Insure is published by Cogotec Limited, Hong Kong business registration number 74373704, of Rooms 1703-1704, 17/F, Tung Chiu Commercial Centre, 193 Lockhart Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. Cogotec is responsible for selecting topics, approving publication, maintaining sources and correcting errors.
Company accountability does not imply that a licensed adviser or an external expert has reviewed every guide. A personal byline, qualification or review credit is used only where the named person actually performed that work and has agreed to the attribution. We do not invent authors, credentials, reviews or testimonials.
What we publish
We explain the purposes and limits of life cover, practical questions about moving countries, policy wording, beneficiaries, claims preparation and comparison of options. Checklists help readers organise information for an adviser.
We distinguish general education from product descriptions, indicative calculations and individual advice. A guide does not determine eligibility, make an underwriting decision or establish a claim entitlement.
Country-specific tax, legal and regulatory statements are limited to the jurisdictions and source dates they actually cover. We do not assume that a UK, US or Hong Kong rule applies to every expatriate.
Sources and accuracy
- Use current insurer documents and official provider pages for product-specific statements. Where a summary differs from the final applicable policy wording, the policy wording controls.
- Use regulators, public consumer bodies and other appropriate primary sources for general explanations. Link material statements to sources readers can inspect.
- Check conditions, exclusions, eligibility limits, dates and the scope of any guarantee rather than copying a headline claim.
- Avoid unsupported rankings, savings claims, customer counts, awards and statements of endorsement.
- Explain uncertainty or source limitations where they affect a reader’s decision.
Publication and review standards
Before a guide is published or materially revised, its main factual claims, sources, scope, readability and disclosures are checked. This work may use AI-assisted source checking, which is identified on the guide. Cogotec remains responsible for publication. Statements requiring specialist judgement are referred to a suitable professional or omitted until they can be supported.
A source-check date records when the cited material was checked. It is not automatically an expert-review date. A guide is described as reviewed only after that review has actually been completed and recorded.
We review content when a material product, legal or source change is identified, when a significant error is reported, and as part of scheduled content maintenance. Updating a date alone does not count as reviewing the content.
Material corrections should explain what changed where the previous wording could have affected a reader’s understanding. If information cannot be verified, it should be qualified, removed or withheld from publication.
Use of AI and automation
AI tools may assist with research organisation, drafting, editing, source checking and technical checks. Cogotec remains accountable for what is published. AI output is not itself a source or evidence of professional review. The nine launch guides received AI-assisted source checking on 28 October 2026; we do not describe that work as an independent review by a licensed adviser.
The guided quote tool calculates indicative results through separate software services. A successful software test does not establish that an insurer’s rates, underwriting or policy terms have been independently verified.
Lifestyle images may be AI-generated illustrations. They do not depict customers or constitute testimonials. We do not use invented people to imply professional authorship or endorsement.
Commercial context and product scope
Expat Life Insure connects educational resources with an enquiry platform that includes Atlas Life and Manhattan Trust. It is not a review of every insurer or product in the market. Product availability depends on the circumstances and relevant permissions.
Editorial content should explain relevant limits and trade-offs. It must not present a commercial relationship as evidence that a product is the best option for a particular reader. Material sponsorship, referral or other commercial relationships should be disclosed where relevant.
Prices are indicative only, not an offer of insurance. Final premiums are confirmed by the insurer after underwriting. Premium examples and rate tables are not published in the marketing guides.
Where Market Shield regular savings or Fixed Index Annuity is discussed, projections are illustrative and not guaranteed. Illustrations must be distinguished from contractual guarantees.
Corrections and feedback
To report an editorial error, write to Cogotec Limited at Rooms 1703-1704, 17/F, Tung Chiu Commercial Centre, 193 Lockhart Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong, marked “Expat Life Insure editorial correction”. Include the page address, the passage concerned and any source that supports the correction. Provide a contact method if you would like a response. Do not include medical records or unnecessary personal information.
Cogotec will assess the issue and decide whether a correction, clarification, source update or specialist review is needed. Privacy requests should use the contact route in the Privacy Policy; policy or claims complaints should follow the responsible provider’s process.
Access and search presentation
We aim to make the main information readable, clearly headed and usable on mobile devices. Sources, limitations and operator details should be accessible to readers.
Page titles, descriptions and structured data must reflect visible content. Search optimisation is intended to help people find useful material. It must not invent expertise, ratings or answers, or hide material limitations.
Publishing policies and structured data does not guarantee that a search engine will index a page, rank it in a particular position or include it in an AI-generated answer.
